Improving your Mindset with discipline

Plato Said that The first and greatest victory is to conquer yourself; to be conquered by yourself is of all things most shameful and vile.  You didn’t think you were going to get philosophy here huh?

What does that mean to you?  To me that means that we battle our own mind every day and we cannot let negative self talk win…… we must thru, self discipline learn to control our mindset every day . 

Last month Tony Smith came to our office and shared one of my biggest take aways, the results cycle.

Its a visual so consider a circle at the top is the word Thoughts then with a rounded arrow pointing to Attitude and that has a curved arrow pointing to Activities and another rounded arrow to Results and the last arrow starts the cycle again back to thoughts.

Its easy when things are all working out to have a great results cycle because our mindset is in a great place but what about when things are not going so well?  How do we stay on track?  It’s our self discipline that will allow us get our thoughts back on track.

So how do we build some self discipline just like everything else its simple its just not easy.  First we must 

  1. Choose a goal.
  2. Find your motivation.
  3. Identify obstacles.
  4. Replace old habits. Or develop NEW habits 
  5. Monitor your progress.

In my opinion the first thing we need to realize is that even if you do everything right the wrong things can happen the key is to accept it and power thru.  

So go get em and keep a positive mindset in all you do even if it feels like a circus
